How to help?

We are looking for volunteers to translate the new version of this page from French to English. If you are interested in helping us, please contact Isabelle@HappyHomeKenya.org.

There are four main types of support you can give us:

Become a permanent sponsor of the orphanage.

The fixed monthly cost for running the orphanage, starting up with a limited staff, amounts 500-EUR (=45.000KSh). This covers salaries, maintenance, etc. Later we must budget here 1000-EUR/mth.

Then, we need 30 EURO (=2700 KSh) per child every month for food, hygiene, medical care and schooling. Yes, with only ONE EURO PER DAY you take on you the subsistance of an orphan !

Therefore, we look for permanent sponsors, who agree to give a fixed amount every month and secure the survival of a child. Without permanent sponsors the home cannot start, as we don't want to host the children for a few months and then be forced to send them back home. As a matter of fact, this is the most needed type of help we are seeking for now.

Anyone who agrees to become a sponsor will be given quarterly reports of our finances and reports about the children.

Participate to the cost of renovation.

As explained in the introduction pages, we must urgently renovate the former local hospital building before being able to use it for hosting orphans. The main cost is related to the renovation of the damaged roofs and ceilings.
Any donation making this works possible is so welcome.

Give everything that can be usefull for the home.

We need cloths, bed sheets, cups, plates, tables, English books, pens, pencils, etc. If you have some unused items at home, please give them to us. This will allow us to reduce our investment for hosting children. People living in Kenya can also provide us with food.

BELGIUM: As we have only a limited capacity for flying over equipment, we would like to limit this kind of gifts to very specific items, explicitly required by our local team. We will publish a list in our "News" tab.

KENYA: You are welcome to give your things to Isabelle Vandeplas (in ICRAF, room G151, ext: 4256). If you are not part of ICRAF or UN, you can contact her on 0726.94.54.19 to arrange for a time to meet.

Volunteer to give your free time.

Volunteers are welcome to help with the renovations and later to help with the care of the children. If you want to volunteer for a chosen period of time, please contact us on info@HappyHomeKenya.org. If you are living in Kenya and want to go and entertain the children for an afternoon, you are also welcome to do so. Privacy.

Permanent sponsors will be informed quarterly by e-mail about all details of incomes and spendings, and the advances in the works, and about the children. To ensure privacy, each donor will be given a donor number. Financial report will include the donor numbers instead of names. This policy is established to avoid negative competition and encourage even the smallest donations.
